Granite Canyon generally refers to a Sherman to Wyoming canyon where the dominant rock type is granite or where the canyon’s name is derived from the presence of granite-like rocks. While some Train Sim World featured canyons do contain true granite, others, like Granite Canyon in Grand Teton National Park United States, may be named because the rocks resemble granite, even if they are actually metamorphic rock like metagabbro.

• Granite: Granite is a coarse-grained igneous rock composed primarily of quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase. 
• Granite Canyon Nomenclature: The term Granite Canyon is used when the canyon’s physical characteristics, particularly the dominant rock type or appearance, are associated with granite, whether it be true granite or similar-looking rocks in North America.
  • Grand Teton National Park: Granite Canyon in this park, while named for its granite-like appearance, actually contains metagabbro, a metamorphic rock. 
  • Grand Canyon Route: The upper Granite Gorge in the Grand Canyon, while containing metamorphic rocks, is known for the way the river flows and the rapids it creates due to the resistance of the canyon’s walls. 
  • Eleven Mile Canyon (formerly Granite Canyon): This canyon in Colorado is named for its scenic views and geological features, which may have included granite or granite-like rocks.
