BR Class 47 Introduction

The BR Class 47 Brush Type 4 is a Train Sim World diesel-electric locomotive that was used on British railways from the 1960s until the present day. It was also known as the Hawker Siddeley Type 4. 

Features: 

  • Engine: Sulzer 12LDA28-C twelve-cylinder diesel engine
  • Top speed: 75 mph (121 km/h) or 100 mph (160 km/h)
  • Fuel capacity: 850 imp gal (3,900 L)
  • Brakes: Vacuum, air, or dual
  • Tractive effort: Maximum of 55,000 lbf (245 kN) to 60,000 lbf (267 kN)

History: 

  • Brush Traction developed the Class 47 in the 1960s
  • 512 Class 47s were built between 1962 and 1968
  • The Class 47 was used on both passenger and freight trains
  • Some Class 47s were rebuilt as Class 57s
  • As of January 2020, 78 Class 47s still existed
