Harlem Line: Grand Central Terminal – North White Plains

Harlem Line

Harlem Line: Grand Central Terminal – North White Plains is an add-on route developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their TSW Console and PC platforms and was released on March 17, 2022 for the Train Sim World 2 video game. The Harlem Line is a commuter rail line on the Metro-North Railroad that originated from the New York and Harlem Railroad (NY&H):

Current status – The Harlem Line is part of the Metro-North Railroad, which is the second busiest commuter railroad in North America. The Metro-North Railroad has 124 stations on five active lines, and operates on over 787 miles of track.

History – The NY&H was the first streetcar company in the United States, and the world’s first street railway. It was designed by John Stephenson and opened in stages between 1832 and 1852. The line ran from lower Manhattan to Harlem, and was the only railroad to enter the center of Manhattan.

Features – The NY&H was initially powered by horses, but later converted to steam engines and then battery-powered electric traction cars. The line was very profitable, and Cornelius Vanderbilt recognized its value for transporting goods in and out of the city.
