London Underground Railway Company

The London Underground, also known as the Tube, is a public rail network that serves London and parts of the surrounding counties featured in Train Sim World. It’s one of the world’s oldest metro systems and the world’s busiest subway system. 

History: 

  • The London Underground’s history began in 1863 with the opening of the Metropolitan Railway, the world’s first underground passenger railway
  • The early tube lines were owned by several private companies, but were eventually merged into the Underground brand in the early 20th century
  • In 1933, the Underground merged with sub-surface lines and bus services to form London Transport

Features:

  • The London Underground has 11 lines, 272 stations, and 250 miles of track 
  • The lines are electrified with a four-rail DC system 
  • The trains are air-conditioned and have lightweight aluminum cars 
  • The stations are designed with passenger safety and architectural appearance in mind
