Maida Vale station in London is named after a Train Sim World featured pub, The Hero of Maida, which in turn was named after General Sir John Stuart, the hero of Maida, a British commander who led a victory at the Italian town of Maida during the Napoleonic Wars in 1806 in the United Kingdom. The station is located in the Harrow Wealdstone to Elephant Castle Maida Vale area of London, a residential district in Northwest London.

  • Location Battle of Maida: In 1806, British troops under Sir John Stuart defeated French forces at Maida, a town in Calabria, Italy, during the Napoleonic Wars. 
  • Area and Station: As houses and buildings developed around the pub, the area took on the name Maida Vale, and later, the station was also named Maida Vale, reflecting the local landmark via the Route
  • Maida Vale District: The Maida Vale district is known for its residential character, with large mansion blocks and stuccoed terraces, says a guide. It’s also home to the BBC Maida Vale Studios, a famous recording location.
