  • Freight Focus: The line through the station site remains open, primarily serving the limestone quarrying industry and the associated heavy freight traffic. 
  • Sidings: The area around the former station is characterized by a large number of sidings, used for storing and maneuvering freight trains, particularly those carrying stone from quarries like Dove Holes and Tunstead. 
  • Peak Forest Route Signal Box: Controls the semaphore signals still used in the area 
  • Popular Train Spotting Location: Due to the concentration of freight traffic, Peak Forest is a popular spot for train spotters. 
  • DB Cargo Train Crew Depot: The former Peak Forest station building is now a train crew depot for DB Cargo.
