Rufford Railway Station is located in the village of Rufford in Lancashire. This Train Sim World featured station opened in 1849 on the Preston-Ormskirk Blackpool Branches line. 

Explanation

  • The name Rufford comes from the Old English words rūh and ford, meaning rough ford. 
  • The station was originally part of the Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway, which was later merged into the East Lancashire Railway and then the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. 
  • The original station buildings were demolished in the 1970s and replaced with concrete structures. 
  • The station is located on the edge of Rufford village, surrounded by fields. 
  • Rufford Old Hall, a 16th century Tudor building, is located near the station. It was the ancestral home of the Hesketh family. 

Tickets 

  • Tickets for the station can be purchased online in advance or on the train.
  • There is no ticket office or self-service machines at the station.
