S-Bahn Zentralschweiz is an add-on route developed and maintained by Rivet Games, for their Console and PC platforms and was released on March 24, 2022 for the Train Sim World 2 video game. S-Bahn Zentralschweiz is a German term that translates to Central Switzerland S-Bahn. The S-Bahn is a commuter rail system that serves metropolitan areas in German-speaking countries, including Switzerland. The name S-Bahn comes from the German words Schnellbahn (“rapid train”), Stadtbahn (“city train”), or Stadtschnellbahn (“rapid city train”).
The S-Bahn Zentralschweiz project includes the Lucerne S-Bahn and the Zug Stadtbahn. The Lucerne S-Bahn opened in 2004 and connects to the Aargau S-Bahn, Bern S-Bahn, and Zurich S-Bahn. At larger stations, it also connects to long-distance trains and mountain railways.
S-Bahn systems vary by city, but some larger systems provide service similar to rapid transit systems.
