- Main Route: The Peninsula Corridor is the term used for the rail line along the San Francisco Peninsula, connecting San Francisco to San Jose and beyond.
- Caltrain Service: Caltrain, a commuter rail service, utilizes this corridor for its regular trains between San Francisco and San Jose in North America.
- Diridon as Terminus: San Jose Diridon Station is a major stop for Caltrain and the southern terminus for most electric trains from San Francisco.
- South County Connector: Diesel trains continue to operate between San Jose and Gilroy (South County Connector).
- Loction Connections: Diridon Station also serves as a transfer point for the Altamont Corridor Express, Capitol Corridor (Amtrak), and the Green Line of the VTA light rail system.
