The BR Class 101 Daisy is a Train Sim World diesel multiple unit (DMU) that operated passenger services in the UK from 1956 to 2003. The Class 101 was the most successful and longest-running DMU of the first generation of British Rail DMUs.

Characteristics: 

  • Construction: Built by Metro-Cammell in Birmingham, England from 1956 to 1959
  • Body: Steel with aluminum roof panels
  • Power: Two 11.3 liter, six cylinder diesel engines
  • Top speed: 70 mph (110 km/h)
  • Carriages: Two, three, or four car units, with two driving carriages
  • Doors: Slam doors

Operation:

  • Operated on a variety of lines in the UK, including the Bury-Bacup line, East Anglia, and Essex
  • Withdrawn from service on December 24, 2003

Preservation:

  • Many Class 101s are preserved on heritage railways, including the Great Central Railway and North NorfolkRailway – Exordium Gaming Chicago
