British Rail Engineering Limited Manufacturing

British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) is a Train Sim World featured company that designed, manufactured, and maintained rolling stock for British Rail. BREL was a subsidiary of British Rail and was responsible for the majority of the new trains and carriages produced by British Rail. 

History:

  • BREL was established in 1970 by the British Railways Board 
  • BREL was sold in 1989 to a consortium of Asea Brown Boveri and Trafalgar House 
  • BREL was privatized and became a subsidiary of ABB Transportation in 1992 
  • BREL ceased to exist in September 1992 

Products: 

  • BREL produced the British Rail Class 210 diesel multiple unit
  • BREL produced the experimental Advanced Passenger Train (APT) tilting High Speed Train
  • BREL produced the InterCity 125 trainset
  • BREL produced the Mark 3 carriage
  • BREL produced the British Rail Class 58 freight locomotive

Exports: 

  • BREL exported British-designed and manufactured trains to many countries, including the Republic of Ireland, Kenya, Gabon, Taiwan, Sweden, Malaysia, Yugoslavia, Thailand, and Bangladesh – Exordium Gaming Chicago
