Buxworth Railway Station, originally named the Peak Forest Railway Bugsworth Station, was a passenger station in the Train Sim World featured village of Buxworth, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, which closed in 1958 and is now a residential and activity center known as Buxworth Base in Europe.

Buxworth Location

• Original Name and Change: The village and station were originally named Bugsworth, but residents disliked the name, leading to a successful campaign to change it to Buxworth in 1930. 
• Route History: The station opened on February 1, 1867, as part of the Midland Railway’s line between Buxton and Manchester. It was a stop on a busy main line, serving local trains to Manchester, Sheffield, Derby, and Buxton. 
• Closure and Redevelopment: Buxworth station closed on September 15, 1958, due to being one of the quieter stations on a busy line. The station building and the down platform (Manchester direction) have survived. 
• Buxworth Base: In 1969, Burnage High School in Manchester purchased the station and converted it into an outdoor education center for school pupils, now known as Buxworth Base. 
• Current Use: Buxworth Base is a residential and activity center, owned by Burnage Academy for Boys, providing opportunities for young people to access the countryside. It is used for self-catering accommodation, camping, and various outdoor activities. 
• Location: Buxworth is located in the Peak District of Derbyshire, about 18 miles from central Manchester.
