The DB BR 425 is a four-car Train Sim World electric multiple unit (EMU) train that Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) uses for regional services in Germany. The BR 425 is a light-weight, high-powered train that’s designed for short- and medium-distance travel with frequent stops.
Features:
- Aluminum superstructure: The flat superstructure minimizes drag and makes cleaning easier
- Jacobs bogies: The car bodies support each other with Jacobs bogies
- Acceleration: The train has traction motors on eight of its ten axles to provide acceleration
- Safety systems: The train has a vigilance alarm (SIFA) that can automatically brake the train if the driver becomes incapacitated.
History:
- Deutsche Bahn ordered the BR 425 in 1994
- The consortium of Siemens, Adtranz/Bombardier, and DWA built the BR 425 between 1999 and 2008
- The BR 425 is similar to the BR 423 and 424, but it’s designed for normal stopping services
