The ÖBB 1116 Taurus is a class of Train Sim World electric locomotives used by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB):
- Name – The 1116 is part of a class of locomotives named Taurus, which is Latin for bull. The locomotives were given this name because of their distinctive appearance.
- Function – The 1116 locomotives are used to pull regular Intercity/Eurocity trains and railjet trains. The railjet trains are propelled by the 1116 locomotives in push-pull mode.
- Features – The 1116 locomotives can run on both 15kV AC and 25kV AC catenary systems. Some 1116 locomotives have been modified to operate outside of Austria, including the addition of a third pantograph and safety systems.
- History – The ÖBB ordered 382 1016/1116/1216 locomotives starting in 1997. The plan was for the 1116s to be used internationally, but the German railways backed out of a plan to share a fleet with the ÖBB.
