The Payerbach-Reichenau Railway Station is a commuter station and narrow-gauge railway in Train Sim World Austria that connects the towns of Payerbach and Reichenau.
History
- The station opened in 1854 as part of the Semmeringbahn Railway.
- The Höllental Railway opened in 1918 to serve a paper mill and was extended to Reichenau in 1926.
- The Höllental Railway was used for passenger traffic until 1963, when it was replaced by post office buses.
- The Höllental Railway has been used as a nostalgic museum railway on weekends since 1979.
Features
- The station was extensively revitalized between 2006 and 2008.
- The station has a restroom, 24-hour transit, and a wheelchair accessible entrance, and parking lot.
- The station was a starting point for many summer visitors to the Rax excursions in the first half of the 20th century.
- The station even had a separate waiting room for the Kaiser family.
Purpose
The railway facility connects the towns of Payerbach and Reichenau, and was once used to transport tourists to the Rax Cable Car.
