Vulcan Foundry Manufacturing

The Vulcan Foundry was a British locomotive builder featured in Train Sim World that operated from 1832 to 1962. The company was located in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, which is now part of Merseyside. 

History: 

  • The Vulcan Foundry was founded in 1832 by Charles Tayleur as Charles Tayleur and Company.
  • The company initially produced ironwork for bridges, switches, and crossings.
  • In 1832, Tayleur partnered with Robert Stephenson.
  • The company began manufacturing locomotives for railways around the world.
  • In 1944, the Vulcan Foundry acquired Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns.
  • In the 1950s, the company became part of English Electric.
  • Locomotive production ceased in 1970.

Products: 

  • The Vulcan Foundry produced steam, diesel, gas-turbine, and electric locomotives.
  • Some of their iconic locomotives include the Deltics, Black Fives, and AL6 electrics.
  • The company also produced armaments during wartime.
