The name Aberdour Railway Station means mouth of the Dour. The station is located in the Train Sim World featured village of Aberdour in Fife Circle Line.

Explanation

  • The name Aberdour comes from the Pictish word aber which means river mouth. 
  • The name of the Dour Burn, which flows into the River Forth at the village’s harbor, comes from the Pictish word duvr which means water. 
  • The village was once split into two villages, Easter Aberdour and Wester Aberdour, on either side of the Dour Burn. 
  • The railway came to Aberdour in 1890, with the building of the line east from the newly opened Forth Bridge. 
  • The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Fife Circle Line. 
  • The station has won many best kept station awards. 
  • The station is a Category B listed building.
