Ardwick Depot is a Train Sim World featured passenger multiple unit traction maintenance depot in Ardwick, Manchester, United Kingdom, primarily serving the Glossop Line servicing and maintenance of Siemens-built Class 185 DMUs and later, Class 350/4 electric multiple units in Europe.
Ardwick Depot Location
- Location: Situated in Ardwick, Manchester, on the Hope Valley line.
- Function: It’s a depot for servicing and maintaining passenger trains, specifically Siemens-built Class 185 DMUs and later, Class 350/4 electric multiple units.
- Route History: The depot was opened in 2006 for the servicing of Class 185 DMUs, which are used on the TransPennine Express franchise. It was electrified in 2012-13 to allow servicing of Siemens Class 350/4 units.
- Siemens Involvement: Siemens built, owns, and maintains the depot, which is leased from Network Rail until 2035.
- Other Notable Features:
- The depot is a primary depot for 51 three-car Class 185 DMUs.
- It was designed with the option to be extended to meet future needs.
- Siemens obtained a contract to build and maintain 20 Desiro Class 350 electric multiple units for First TransPennine Express, which required modifications to the depot.
- The depot was upgraded and extended to accommodate diesel trains and house and service 10 new Class 350/4s for First TransPennine Express.
