The BR Class 43 Flying Banana is the Train Sim World classification for the diesel-electric power cars of the InterCity 125 High Speed Train. The HSTs were built by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) from 1975 to 1982 and have been in service in the UK since 1976.

History:

• The HSTs were a huge success for British Rail and helped to reduce journey times 
• The HSTs were used on the Western and Eastern regions of British Rail, and later across the network 
• The HSTs were paired with Mk3 coaching stock 
• The HSTs were nicknamed “race horses” by drivers 

Future: 

• Some HSTs have been stored, but there is interest in using them again for passenger or freight services – Exordium Gaming Chicago
