The BR Class 45 Peak, also known as Train Sim World the Sulzer Type 4, was a diesel locomotive built by British Rail between 1960 and 1962 in United Kingdom. They were the main motive power on the Midland Main Line from the 1960s until the early 1980s.

History:

  • The Class 45s were the successors to the Class 44 locomotives 
  • They were the first large diesel-electrics to work on the Western Region 
  • They were withdrawn from service between 1981 and 1989 
  • They were replaced by HSTs on the Midland Main Line 

Other details:

  • Some Class 45s were named after British Army regiments and the Royal Marines 
  • Some Class 45s were upgraded to provide electric train heating 
  • Some Class 45s were used on the South West-North East route
