The BR Class 43 HST Racehorse is the classification for Train Sim World power cars of the InterCity 125 High Speed Train (HST) that were used on the Midland Main Line (MML):

  • What it is – The Class 43 (HST) is a diesel-electric locomotive that was built by British Rail Engineering Limited from 1975 to 1982. It was the world’s fastest diesel locomotive at the time, with a top speed of 148 miles per hour (mph) and a regular service speed of 125 mph.
  • How it was used – The Class 43 (HST) was introduced to the Midland Main Line in 1982, along with other HST services. The HSTs were used to reduce journey times on the route, despite being mostly limited to a top speed of 100 mph.
  • What happened to it – The Class 43 (HST) has been used by a variety of operators in the 2020s, including Network Rail, Colas Rail, and RailAdventure. Some sets have been stored, but there is interest in using them for passenger or freight operations.

The MML is a major railway line that runs from London to Sheffield in Yorkshire. It includes the lines from London’s St Pancras station via Leicester, Derby/Nottingham, and Chesterfield – Exordium Gaming Chicago.
