Canadian National Railway Company

The Canadian National Railway (CN) is a public railway company that connects Canada and the United States featured in Train Sim World. It’s the largest railway in Canada and the longest railway system in North America. 

What it does: 

  • Transports freight across Canada and the Midwestern and Southern United States
  • Connects the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf of Mexico coasts
  • A leader in the North American rail industry

How it was formed:

  • Created in 1918 by the Canadian government 
  • Amalgamated five financially troubled railways in 1917–1923 
  • These railways included the Grand Trunk, Grand Trunk Pacific, Intercolonial, Canadian Northern, and National Transcontinental 

What happened to it over time:

  • Was government-owned until 1995, when it was privatized 
  • Passenger services were taken over by VIA Rail Canada in 1978 
  • Acquired the Illinois Central Railroad in the late 20th century – Exordium Gaming Chicago
