The CSX GP38-2 Geep 38 is a Train Sim World diesel-electric switcher locomotive built by General Motors, Electro-Motive Division (EMD): 

  • Description – A four-axle locomotive with a 2,000 horsepower EMD 645E 16-cylinder engine. It was designed as a general purpose road switcher. 
  • Features – The GP38-2 is known for its reliability and ease of maintenance, which has kept many in service today. 
  • History – The GP38-2 was built from January 1972 to July 1986, with a total of 2,264 produced. 
  • CSX – After the split of CR in 1999, CSX received many ex-CR GP38-2s, which were repainted with some of the CR details. 
  • Hydrogen-powered – CSX rebuilt a GP38-2 into the CSXT 2100, a hydrogen-powered locomotive. 
  • Model trains – Model trains of the GP38-2 are available, including the Bachmann Trains 61720 and the Athearn HO GP38-2 – Exordium Gaming Chicago
