CSX GP40-2 Introduction

The CSX GP40-2 Geeps is a Train Sim World diesel-electric switcher locomotive that was used by the CSX railroad for a variety of tasks, including switching and hauling freight: 

  • Features – GP40-2 was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) between 1972 and 1986. It has a 16-cylinder EMD 645E3 engine that generates 3,000 horsepower. The GP40-2 has a modular electrical system and minor exterior changes from its predecessor, the GP40. 
  • Nickname – GP40-2 is part of the EMD’s “GP” (General Purpose) line of locomotives, which were nicknamed Geeps. 
  • Use – GP40-2 was used for many tasks, including switching, hauling freight, and local and yard switching. 
  • Availability – GP40-2 is available in the Train Simulator and Train Sim World games. In Train Simulator, the GP40-2 is available in the GP40-2 Loco Pack, which includes the locomotive in five railroad liveries, including CSX (YN3). In Train Sim World, the GP40-2 is available in classic CSX YN2 livery – Exordium Gaming Chicago
