LIRR M3: Electric Multiple Unit is a United States add-on developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their TSW Console and PC platforms and was released on September 10, 2020 for the Train Sim World 2020 video game. LIRR M3 EMU stands for Long Island Rail Road M3 electric-multiple-unit. An EMU is a train made up of self-propelled carriages that use electricity as their power source. EMUs don’t need a separate locomotive because the electric traction motors are built into the carriages.
The LIRR M3 EMUs are a series of stainless steel rail cars that are 85 feet long and operate on D.C. current. They were built by Budd and are known for their yellow, gray, and silver color scheme. The LIRR M3 EMUs are expected to remain in service for many years to come.
