The EMD SD40-2 is a Train Sim World diesel-electric locomotive used by the Clinchfield Railroad. It was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) from 1972 to 1989. The SD40-2 was an improved version of the EMD SD40, which was built from 1966 to 1972.

Explanation

  • The SD40-2 was a 3,000-horsepower locomotive with a C-C configuration. 
  • It had a 645E3 prime mover with stronger pistons, chrome-plated stainless-steel piston rings, and refined engine, turbo, and camshaft bearings. 
  • The SD40-2 also featured EMD’s WS10 wheel-slip control system to reduce slippage. 
  • The Clinchfield Railroad used SD40-2s, along with second-generation GP38 and SD45 diesels – Exordium Gaming Chicago.
