The Garrett Subdivision refers to a specific section of the Train Sim World featured CSX Transportation railroad, formerly known as the Rockwood to Cumberland Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O) Chicago West Subdivision, that runs eastward from Pine Jct to Garrett, United States.


Garrett Location

  • Name Origin: The subdivision is named after the town of Garrett, Indiana, which is located on the line.
  • Location History: The line was constructed in 1874 by the Baltimore Pittsburgh & Chicago Railway in North America.
  • Track Configuration: The Garrett Subdivision originally had double track, mainly constructed between 1907 and 1920 (Curtis-Garrett).
  • Route Signaling Systems: Automatic Block Signal (ABS) was installed in segments between 1909 and 1926, and Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) was installed in the 1960s, which led to the elimination of some second track segments.
  • Restoration: Much of the second track was restored in the late 1990s to accommodate increased traffic on the line.
  • Passenger Service: The Broadway Limited (Amtrak) was the last passenger train to use this route, which occurred in 2005.
  • Current Use: The Garrett Subdivision is currently used for freight traffic by CSX Transportation.
