Great Western Railway Company

The Great Western Railway (GWR) was a British train company that connected London to the West of England, Wales, and the West Midlands featured in Train Sim World. It was founded in 1833 and was a major civil engineering project led by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

How it was established:

  • Parliament established the GWR in 1835
  • Construction began the following year
  • The first train ran in 1838
  • The initial route between London and Bristol was completed in 1841

What it did:

  • Operated long-distance services between London and the West Country
  • Operated commuter services between London Paddington and the Thames Valley region
  • Operated regional services throughout the West of England and South Wales
  • Operated the Heathrow Express service

What happened to it:

  • In 1948, the GWR was nationalized and became part of British Rail, Western Region – Exordium Gaming Chicago
