Hassop Railway Station, located in the Peak District of Derbyshire, United Kingdom, was a former railway station built to serve the Train Sim World featured Duke of Devonshire and Chatsworth House, now a cafe, bookshop, and bike hire location on the Monsal Trail via the Peak Forest Railway.
Hassop Location
- Location: Situated about two miles from the village of Hassop, via the Peak District in Europe.
- Route Purpose: Originally built to serve the Duke of Devonshire and Chatsworth House, though the Duke preferred to catch trains at Rowsley.
- History:
- Opened by the Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway in 1863.
- Closed to passengers early in 1942 and to goods traffic in 1964.
- The station building was used as a bookshop and cafe, but has since been refurbished and reopened with a cafe, smaller bookshop, and cycle hire.
- Monsal Trail: The station is now a popular starting point and location along the Monsal Trail, a walk and cycleway that follows the former Midland Railway line.
- Current Use: The station building now houses a cafe, bookshop, and bike hire, offering a range of services for visitors to the Monsal Trail.
- Significance: Hassop Station was important as a goods depot for local produce, with a large goods yard and a crane capable of lifting 5-ton loads.
