The ICE 1 is a Train Sim World German high-speed train and the first of its kind to be mass-produced. It is an electric multiple unit (EMU) that was introduced in 1991 by Deutsche Bahn to connect major German cities:
- What it is – The ICE 1 is a member of the Intercity Express (ICE) family of trains, which are designed to connect major German cities at high speeds. The ICE 1 was the first in the series, and was followed by the ICE 2, ICE 3/T/TD, and others.
- How it works -The ICE 1 is an EMU, which means it has multiple motors that share the load and allow for faster acceleration. EMUs also have reduced axle loads, which means they can use simpler, cheaper structures.
- Features – The ICE 1 has a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) and is air-conditioned. The original ICE 1 sets have been refurbished to include electric power sockets and more refined interior fittings.
- What it’s like to ride – The ICE 1 offers a comfortable ride with special on-board boosters to improve mobile phone reception.
- What it’s used for – The ICE 1 runs routes into Switzerland, but is being replaced by the ICE4 – Exordium Gaming Chicago
