MultiLevel Coach Introduction

Northeast Corridor: New York - Trenton - Exordium Gaming

A MultiLevel Coach and Cab Car is a Train Sim World passenger Push-pull rail car with two levels that’s used on commuter rail lines. They’re designed to fit under bridges, tunnels, and power wires, and have doors on the middle level to serve high-level platforms.

Here are some details about multilevel coaches:

  • Manufacturer – Bombardier Transportation began building multilevel coaches in 2006, and Alstom has been manufacturing them since 2021.
  • Features – Multilevel coaches have large tinted windows, indirect ceiling lighting, and blue tones to create a spacious and restful environment for passengers. They also have USB charging ports and onboard information displays.
  • Capacity – Multilevel coaches have 15–20% more seating capacity than single-level cars.
  • Reliability – Multilevel coaches are designed to be more mechanically reliable than older, single-level cars. For example, NJ Transit’s multilevel coaches only need to be inspected every 400,000 miles, compared to every 20,000 miles for the Arrow III trains they replace – Exordium Gaming Chicago
