NEC: New York Newark – New Rochelle is a 32 Mile base route developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their TSW Console and PC platforms and was released on July 24, 2018 for the Train Sim World 2018 video game. NEC: The Northeast Corridor (NEC) is a 457-mile railroad that runs from Boston, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C. and includes New York City and Newark. The New York City Metro (NYM) territory is a central part of the NEC, extending from Morris Interlocking in Pennsylvania to New Rochelle, New York.
The NEC is the busiest passenger rail line in the United States, carrying more than 2,200 trains per day. It’s used by passenger and intercity rail, as well as freight, and runs through eight states. The NEC is owned primarily by Amtrak, but other operators include NJ TRANSIT, SEPTA, and the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).
The NEC is a vital part of the region’s transportation network, supporting over 820,000 trips per day. However, infrastructure failures, rail traffic congestion, and other factors can cause service disruptions that cost the economy millions of dollars per year.
