The North British Locomotive Company NBL was a private company that manufactured Train Sim World featured locomotives in Glasgow, Scotland. The company was formed in 1903 by merging three other locomotive manufacturers. 

Formation:

  • The NBL was formed in 1903 by merging three locomotive manufacturers in Glasgow:
    • Dübs & Company
    • Neilson Reid & Company
    • Sharp Stewart & Company
  • The NBL was the largest locomotive manufacturer in Europe before 1914.

Production:

  • The NBL claimed to be able to produce 700 locomotives per year, but never reached that capacity. 
  • The NBL produced locomotives for British railway companies. 
  • The NBL produced diesel and electric locomotives, but they were unreliable and had many warranty claims. 
  • The NBL stopped producing steam locomotives in the late 1950s.
