- New York – Trenton – The Northeast Corridor Line is a commuter rail service operated by NJ Transit that runs between Trenton Transit Center and New York Penn Station. The 58.1-mile line is NJ Transit’s busiest commuter rail service.
- NEC – The NEC is the busiest passenger rail line in the United States, carrying more than 2,200 trains a day. It’s owned primarily by Amtrak and runs from Boston to Washington, D.C., with major stops in New York City, Newark, Trenton, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
The NEC is a vital transportation system for the Northeast’s five major metropolitan regions. However, the NEC’s infrastructure is aging and requires extensive repair to meet current traffic levels. The Gateway Program is a series of rail infrastructure projects that will improve the most congested section of the NEC.
