Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - San Jose

Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco – San Jose is a 41 Mile base route developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their TSW Console and PC platforms and was released on August 15, 2019 for the Train Sim World 2020 video game. The Peninsula Corridor is a rail line that runs from San Francisco’s 4th and King Caltrain Station to San Jose’s Tamien Caltrain Station, and is served by Caltrain, a commuter rail service. The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (PCJPB) owns and operates Caltrain.

The Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project (PCEP) is a major part of Caltrain’s Capital Improvement Program that will convert the Caltrain Corridor to electric trains:

  • Electrification – The PCEP will electrify the Caltrain Corridor, including the installation of an overhead contact system (OCS) to connect the trains to an electricity source.
  • Train conversion – The PCEP will convert diesel-hauled trains to Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains.
  • Increased service – The PCEP will increase the number of Caltrain trains that run during peak hours per direction to up to six.
  • Improved performance – The PCEP will improve the performance, efficiency, capacity, safety, and reliability of Caltrain’s service.

The PCEP will also make the Caltrain system compatible with future high-speed rail (HSR) service.
