Santa Fe F7 – Train Sim World

Santa Fe F7 - Train Sim World

Santa Fe F7: Diesel-Electric is a rolling stock add-on developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their TSW Console and PC platforms and was released on October 4, 2022 for the Train Sim World 3 video game. Santa Fe F7 was the most popular and successful model in the General Motors Electro-Motive Division’s (EMD) F-unit series. The F7 was used by the Santa Fe Railroad to haul passenger trains like the Santa Fe Super Chief and the Texas Chief.

Here are some details about the Santa Fe F7 in TSW3:

  • Appearance – The F7 was similar in appearance to its predecessor, the EMD F3, but had some external differences and internal electrical equipment upgrades.
  • Power – The F7 had a continuous tractive effort rating that was 20% higher than the F3.
  • B unit – The F7 also had a “B unit” that was developed without an engineer’s cab so that it could be coupled with one or more F7 A units. The A units were operated by a locomotive engineer in the cab.
  • Paint scheme – The F7’s curved features and stainless steel flanks were often painted in the iconic Warbonnet paint scheme.

The Museum of the American Railroad recreated an F7 as part of its Project F-7. They used a Canadian National F-9A #9167 as the model because it had the same carbody features as the Santa Fe versions.
