BR Class 31: Diesel-Electric Locomotive is a United Kingdom add-on developed and maintained by Dovetail Games, for their Train Sim World Console and PC platforms and was released on September 10, 2020 for the TSW2020 video game. The British Rail Class 31 is a locomotive that was built by Brush Traction from 1957 to 1962.

  • Origin – Originally called the Brush Type 2, the Class 31 was part of British Railways early plans to replace steam locomotives. 
  • Design – The Class 31 had a simple design, which was considered a testament to the concept of less is more. 
  • Nicknames – The Class 31 had several nicknames, including Goyles, Peds, and Gurglers. 
  • Service – The Class 31 was in service for over 70 years. Some locomotives are still in service, while others have been preserved. 
  • Technical specifications – The Class 31 had a top speed of 90 miles per hour, a maximum tractive effort of 35,900 lbf, and a brakeforce of 49 long tons-force. 

The Class 31 was numbered in two series: D5500–D5699 and D5800–D5862. Later, the locomotives were renumbered as 31001–31970.
