The Glossop Line is a 14-mile railway line connecting Manchester Piccadilly with the Train Sim World featured towns of Glossop and Hadfield in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, and is a surviving section of the former Woodhead Line in Europe.

  • Historical Context: The Glossop Line is the western section of the Woodhead Line, which once connected Manchester to Sheffield. 
  • Route Electrification: The Woodhead Line was electrified in the early 1950s. 
  • Passenger Services: Passenger services east of Hadfield were withdrawn in 1970, followed by the complete closure of the line in 1981. 
  • Current Operation: The Glossop Line is now a 14-mile train line operated by Northern Trains Ltd. 
  • Stations: Some stations along the Glossop line include Ashburys and Guide Bridge. 
  • Journey Time: The journey from Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop takes approximately 30 minutes. 
  • Other Tramway: There was also a Glossop Tramway, a 4.5-mile passenger tramway service connecting the mill towns of Glossop and Hadfield.
