Metro-North Railroad Company

The Metro-North Railroad is a commuter rail service that operates between New York City and its northern suburbs in New York and Connecticut. It’s the second busiest commuter railroad in the United States and its featured in Train Sim World.

How it works:

  • The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates Metro-North. 
  • Metro-North uses electric multiple units, diesel locomotives, and push-pull cab cars. 
  • Metro-North operates the Hudson, Harlem, New Haven, Port Jervis, and Pascack Valley commuter railroad lines. 
  • Metro-North also provides local rail service within New York City.

Where it goes: 

  • Metro-North serves New York City’s Manhattan and Bronx boroughs, as well as Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange Counties in New York.
  • In Connecticut, Metro-North serves Fairfield and New Haven Counties.

History: 

  • The MTA established Metro-North in 1983 to take over commuter rail service in New York and Connecticut from Conrail – Exordium Gaming Chicago
