Rowsley Railway Station refers to the historic passenger station in Rowsley, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, with a complex history that includes multiple Peak Forest Railway stations and a significant role in the development of the railway network in Europe, including being the terminus of the Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway in Train Sim World.
Rowsley Location
Initial Station (1849): The first Rowsley station in the Location opened in 1849, serving as the terminus of the Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway line from Ambergate.
New Route Station (1862): In 1862, a new station was built on a through deviation of the line, which took it over the A6 road and River Derwent, and into the Duke of Rutland’s estate towards Bakewell.
Closure: The later station in Rowsley closed in 1967 when the route was rationalized, before complete closure in 1968.
Rowsley South: The northern terminus of the preserved heritage railway Peak Rail is located in Rowsley South, about a quarter of a mile south of the village itself.
Peak Rail: Peak Rail operates trains to Matlock on a section of the original Midland Main Line, with Rowsley South being its northern base.
Other Stations: There was also a station in Rowsley, Victoria, Australia, on the Serviceton railway line, which was opened in 1889 and closed in 1959.
